This project follows a complete bespoke furniture commission — from walnut timber on the workshop floor to a fully installed New Chinese-style living room. The client wanted a warm, sculptural living space built entirely around solid North American black walnut, marble and full-grain leather, with every piece made to order in our China workshop.
The Workshop
Production starts with curved chair components cut from solid black walnut, stacked on pallets for staged assembly. Seat blanks are shaped and hand-sanded before moving to the spray booth, where each frame receives multiple coats of hand-rubbed oil — the finish that brings out walnut’s natural depth and figure.
The Living Room
The installed room pairs a teal-upholstered sofa with solid walnut arms and integrated storage, two sculptural swivel accent chairs on brass bases, and a marble-top coffee table on a curved walnut pedestal. A low-profile walnut media console sits against a full-height marble feature wall, while a circular mountain landscape anchors the composition — a calm, modern interpretation of the New Chinese style.
